Notes & Noticias: Farewell Session Interns, Hello Summer Town Halls 🌞🌞🌞

Friends,
Over the past weekend, the Palomitas Day Care at 4905 Mufrais Lane was vandalized by some mean-spirited individuals. Paint, syrup and cornmeal were thrown across floors; furniture was cast upside down; computers were destroyed and walls were splattered with paint and profanities.Β Today, my staff went to the site to assist in the cleanup and repainting of the facilities.

If you would like to help, volunteers are needed this Saturday, June 13 at 8 a.m. Bring a paintbrush, dress appropriately and show up at 4905 Mufrais Lane, Austin, Texas 78744 to help.

Goodbye and Thanks, Erin & Ashley

Last week, I bid farewell to my two session interns, Erin Courtney Cusack and Ashley Alcantara. Both did a tremendous job helping me handle constituent cases, research policy assignments, draft legislation and engage with state agencies.
Erin just completed her Masters in Global Policy Studies at LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT Austin. Previously, she was a Fulbright Scholar and a double-major in political science and Spanish at Temple University. She has taken two academic trips to Nepal and has served as an intern for Club de Madrid, an alliance of former democratic presidents and prime ministers from around the world.
Ashley is a government and Plan II honors student at The University of Texas at Austin, where she currently serves as the Communications Director of the University Democrats. She has previously interned for Congressman Lloyd Doggett and the University of Houston’s Immigration Legal Clinic.
I wish the best for these smart and talented young women, who will no doubt continue on to accomplish great things.

Upcoming Town Hall

Please join me on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00am for a recap and discussion of the legislative session that ended June 1. We’ll break down the bills that made headlines this year, with an emphasis on those that affect House District 51. Please check next week’s Notes & Noticias or my Facebook page for an update on the location.
Hope to see you there,

Eddie Rodriguez
