Dear Friends and Constituents:
Please join me for the Opening Day of the 83rd Legislative Session at noon on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at your State Capitol.
My staff and I will host a hospitality suite in our new office, 4S.2 on the Fourth Floor of the Capitol building. Please join us for posole and quesadillas from Curra’s Grill, along with refreshments and friendship from at 10 a.m. until the close of ceremonies.
Visitors to the Texas House of Representatives can observe Opening Day and the swearing-in ceremonies happening on the House floor one of three ways:
The third-floor Gallery is open to visitors and from here you can get a great view of the whole House Chamber. It will fill up quickly, so plan to arrive no later than 10 a.m. to save your seat.
Once the Gallery is full, overflow seating to view ceremony on closed-circuit television is offered in Extension Auditorium E1.004 and Committee Rooms E2.010, E2.012, E2.014 and E2.016. My staff will be ready to assist you in finding a place to watch.
The ceremonies also can be watched in my small office on closed circuit television.
Please contact my office at (512) 463-0674 if you have any questions about Opening Day events. We hope to see you at the Capitol!
