AUSTIN— Today, electric vehicle coalition Plug-In Texas honored Texas State Representative Eddie Rodriguez, D-Austin, with its 2011 Plug-In Texas Environmental Leadership Award for his dedication and interest in promoting alternative fueled vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs), in Texas.

During the awards presentation Russ Keene of Plug-In Texas said, “Plug-In Texas thanks Representative Rodriguez for his commitment and leadership in energy efficiency and clean transportation through the advancement of new technologies. Rodriguez is a talented legislator and is committed to raising awareness of EVs and advancing public policies to spur clean vehicle adoption in the state. ”

In receiving the award, Representative Rodriguez stated, “Modest state incentives will help promote the promising technology of electric vehicles. Widespread adoption of EVs in Texas brings a range of benefits and I plan to continue to advocate for policies that will help increase consumer and fleet adoption of EVs in future years.”

Representative Rodriguez sponsored legislation in the 82nd Texas Legislature supported by Plug-In Texas that was intended to incent Texans to invest in electric vehicles (EVs) and lead to more rapid adoption of EVs in the state.
