Republicans Vote Down Electric Car Bill

Tonight I offered up a bill that would provide a $2,500 incentive for the purchase of an electric vehicle. This bill would have given the rebate to the first 2,000 purchasers of electric cars to increase the number of zero-emission vehicles on Texas roads. Unfortunately, the bill went down largely along party-lines. This is yet another example of Republicans resistance to look forward in addressing transportation needs of our state, and support meaningful legislation that would promote new technologies and result in better air quality.
